Gecić Law Founding Partner Bogdan Gecić spoke with CorD magazine for its USA 2026 edition about American business culture, the rule of law, legal certainty, artificial intelligence, and Serbia’s role in the global economy.
In the interview, Bogdan explains how the American model — grounded in meritocracy, strong institutions, and accountability — can support sustainable development across Serbia and the wider region. He also highlights the importance of U.S. partnership in raising professional standards, strengthening investor confidence, and creating new opportunities for local talent.
Reflecting on his Harvard Law School experience, Bogdan describes Harvard not as a credential but as a method grounded in clarity, rigor, and integrity. He connects those principles to the broader American tradition of the rule of law, accountable institutions, and merit-based advancement.
He notes that partnership with the United States remains a cornerstone of modernization for the region. In American business culture, he explains, expectations for accountability and performance are raised while local talent is accelerated rather than displaced.
Bogdan also emphasizes that legal certainty and compliance are central to attracting U.S. and other developed-market investors. Investors do not expect markets without friction; they expect clear rules that help them understand, measure, and manage risk.
He points to Serbia’s position on the European path as a distinct advantage. By adopting high standards while retaining flexibility, Serbia can combine European rigor with deeper U.S. partnership and create a more competitive investment environment.
Looking ahead, Bogdan identifies artificial intelligence, governance, competitiveness, and trade as key forces shaping the region’s ties to global markets. He stresses that regulation will be addressed from the start, especially in AI, where responsible adoption requires governance, oversight, and clear strategic thinking.
He also argues that the region should compete more ambitiously and align more closely with global growth engines, particularly in technology, and trade.
The interview delivers a clear message: law drives development. Confidence, innovation, and international partnerships can help Serbia and the region turn talent and strategic positioning into lasting competitive advantage.
