Gecić Law Experts Discuss Latest Developments in EU Sustainability Regulations with Israeli Exporters

Our Partners, Bogdan Gecić and Anne MacGregor, participated in an insightful webinar titled “Regulatory updates: CBAM and Other EU Sustainability Regulations.”  Organized by the Israel Export Institute in collaboration with leading Israeli law firm Shibolet, the event drew significant attention from Israeli exporters and suppliers looking to understand evolving EU regulations.

Lior Gaon, Head of ClimateTech at the Israel Export Institute, opened the event by highlighting the importance of staying ahead of sustainability and regulatory trends.  Galit Ofer, Partner and Head of the Environment and Sustainability Department at Shibolet & Co., further provided a detailed status update on current sustainability and climate regulations within Europe and touched upon regulatory trends emerging from the United States.  Galit’s presentation emphasized the complexities surrounding the recent amendments to the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).  She also addressed the evolving challenges posed by changes to the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).  Her insights undoubtedly clarified what exporters should monitor closely and how to proactively prepare for regulatory compliance.

Deep Dive into the Latest Developments – CBAM, CSRD & CSRDDD

Our Partners guided participants through an in-depth analysis of the latest significant changes under the EU’s Omnibus package.  They focused on simplification measures related to EU sustainability regulations, including the CBAM, CSRD, and CSDDD directives.   Bogdan discussed these developments and their practical implications for Israeli businesses.  He stressed that understanding the regulation’s intricacies is crucial, as its impact will extend significantly beyond industries initially targeted.

Anne MacGregor complemented Bogdan’s insights by outlining the regulatory processes and compliance expectations from Brussels.  She indeed provided valuable perspective on the EU’s decision-making landscape.  They also highlighted potential strategic opportunities within CBAM for proactive exporters.
