Vuk Leković Talks AI and Competition Law at 2024 Internet Dialogue Conference

We are proud of our Senior Associate Vuk Leković, who indeed had the exceptional honor of joining an impressive list of speakers at the opening day of the tenth annual regional conference “Internet Dialogue 2024“, organized by the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, and the “Register of National Internet Domain of Serbia” Foundation (RNIDS), taking place on April 8th and 9th at the premises of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Belgrade, under the auspices its Center for Digital Transformation.

Artificial Intelligence: Challenges in Business Law

The first day of the conference indeed gave special attention to artificial intelligence in the legal world, with the overarching theme being “Artificial Intelligence: Challenges in Business Law.”  Vuk presented a topic related to artificial intelligence and its interaction with competition law, exploring at length how innovations in AI technologies affect traditional legal norms and competition rules.  He focused on the potential opportunities, challenges, and dilemmas that artificial intelligence brings to the business world, especially in the context of the process of determining competition infringements.  Moreover, it discussed how AI can transform market conditions or impact fair market practices and how legislation can respond to these changes to preserve competition and innovation.

Significantly, the discussion was chaired by Prof. Dr. Dušan V. Popović, full professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, who also spearheaded the organization of the conference.  The list of speakers also included Prof. Dr. Ivana Kunda, full professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka; Prof. Dr. Neda Zdraveva, full professor at the Faculty of Law “Justinian I” at the University of Skopje “St. Cyril and Methodius”; Prof. Dr. Marko Jovanović, associate professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade; Prof. Dr. Jelena Lepetić, associate professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, as well as Doc.  Dr. Maša Mišković, assistant professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, who all tackled various aspects of this intriguing topic.

The “Internet Dialogue” conferences are crucial for exchanging knowledge and experience at the crossroads of emerging technologies and law.  They also provide a platform to discuss how law can keep up with technological development in the digital age.
